FAQ - Workshop
Q. Do you offer nerikomi pottery workshops?
Yes.
Workshops are available upon request, depending on my schedule and production circumstances.
Q. Where are the workshops held?
Workshops take place at my studio in Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture, Japan.
It is not a major tourist destination, but a quiet and beautiful rural area surrounded by the sea and mountains.
Q. Who can join the workshop?
Anyone is welcome.
This workshop is suitable for both children and adults.
International visitors are also welcome.
No prior experience with ceramics is required.
Q. What will we do during the workshop?
We do not use a pottery wheel.
You will experience combining different colored clays to create Nerikomi patterns, and shaping your own piece by hand.
Marble and stripe patterns are recommended, as they are easier and less likely to fail, but please feel free to consult if you have other ideas.
After the workshop, the pieces will be dried at the studio.
I will apply the glaze and fire them to complete the work.
The finished pieces will be shipped to your preferred address.
Q. How long does the workshop take?
Each session takes approximately 3 hours.
We work at a calm and relaxed pace, from pattern making to shaping.
Q. How long does it take for the pieces to be completed?
Including drying and firing, completion takes several weeks.
Once finished, the pieces will be shipped to you.
Q. How much does it cost?
From JPY8,000 per person per session
(Example: 3 - 4 round plates, approx. 20 cm in diameter)
The price may vary depending on the content of the workshop.
Shipping costs are not included.

For international shipping, customs duties or import taxes may apply depending on the country or region.
Any such fees are the responsibility of the customer.
